Biography

Rita García was born in Jersey City New Jersey. At the age of five, her parents decided to move to Puerto Rico. She attended to S.U. Middle School José Padín in the City of Salinas, Puerto Rico. She got to take Theatre Class in her middle school years, where she began taking acting and dancing clases. Her teacher, Norma Iris Santiago, gave her classes for 3 years, not knowing that she was preparing Rita for what fate would bring her for her future with this experience. The teacher decided to invite her to dancing audition in the city of Sabana Grande in Puerto Rico. This audition was to belong to a Folkloric Ballet creative by the Government of Puerto Rico called “El Ballet Juvenil Puertorriqueño”.

They did several auditions in different towns of the island, looking for talented young dancers to belong to this prestigious Ballet that was going to represent Puerto Rico, inside and outside of the island. More than thousands of dancers from around the country attended to these auditions and many of them did tried several times. García from the first attempt was selected. The auditions were directed by choreographers: Tony D’astro, Zaida Varas and Tato Molina. Rita never imagine that she’ll be part of the 150 members that will composed the body of first biggest ballet of Puerto Rico.

In the summer of 1993 the dancers stayed at the Technical School of Sports in the Olympic Hostel in Salinas PR . They had trainers that had them on a regime of exercises and diets. As part of their preparation, they also took acting classes, like part of the dances curriculum to be able to have a better projection in all the choreographies.

The Ballet Juvenil Puertorriqueño began to travel around the island and gave their presentations in different cities around Puerto Rico. They also perform several times at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Puerto Rico. The ballet also performed at the 5th centenary of Puerto Rico dancing on stage with Spain artist and singer Isabel Pantojas. The BJP were in TV commercials, also performed at the “Paseo de la Princesa” among other places in PR. They also had a special show on TV demonstrating they magnificent choreography that distinguished the roots of the Historical of Puerto Rico, The BJP with typical singer Tony Croata.

After a great tour around the island The ballet makes its first launch outside of Puerto Rico traveling to Mexico. The 150 young dancers with their leaders and choreographers, performed in different public places in Mexico. They debuted on the Mexico channel known as Televisa, and also at the Degollado Theater located in Guadalajara, Mexico.

After a unforgettable trip, the ballet returns to Puerto Rico. It was no longer a ballet, now it turned into a great family. After four years of continuing training, learning new choreographies and performing more shows, García got to be expelled with a group of other members of the ballet for no explanation giving.

The BJP doesn’t exist anymore, what didn’t ended up was the love of every one. Until this day they continue in communication as brothers and sisters. Time as pass and every one has changed but we remained in true love as a family. Changing the subject and speaking a bit about Rita García as a professional cosmetologist. First of all she was born with that innate talent of doing hair and make-up.

At the age of 13 she began her career with out no one teaching her. She started by doing her own hair, until one day a neighbor asked her if she could’ve style her hair; that’s when everything began.

Rita always been a entrepreneur, her first job started at the porch of her parents home. At the age of 14 she got her first job in a Beauty Salon as a Stylist Assistant. After that experience in a Beauty Salon, she learned more and her work got recognized expanding her craft and building her client record. Also she was being hired to prepare quinceañeras (sweet sixteens), brides and bridesmaids around her town for this special events. Her name was recognized in her hometown for her skills and talent.

In 1996, after finishing 3 years of General Clerck at Stella Marquez High School and graduating with the highest score in her class group, Rita Garcia decided to go to the Interamerican University in Guayama Puerto Rico to study Tourism. She continues her studies at Huertas Junior College in Caguas Puerto Rico. Almost finishing a associate degree she decided to take a turn in her life and returns to Jersey City NJ, after deciding that to become a flight attendant it wasn’t her thing.

Hair was always a source of income all her life, into one day a situation happened and drove her to study cosmetology and become a professional in beauty industry.

After studying strongly a masters in cosmetology at Natural Motion Institute of Hair Design in Jersey City, NJ; which she got her diploma and also she won first prized in hairstyling competitions. Rita graduated with honors and passed the state board examination in one shot.

Rita García is totally a creative and dynamic hair designer and makeup artist with a high degree of technical knowledge and skills.

Rita has had a passion for hair, makeup and beauty for more then two decades. She has a excellent client interaction skills and the ability to grow a strong and loyal customer base. She has experienced salon management and had been a Cosmetologist Instructor at Chavinos Institute in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Rita also loves Beauty Pagents, in 1997 she worked with a candidate for a beauty pageant in Puerto Rico and won her first beauty pageant that she worked on with a only 17 years old young girl. Winning her first crown doing hair and makeup to Miss Skin Cinnamon 1997 in P.R. turned Ritas perspective about the beauty industry.

After that Rita has worked with different candidates in beauty pageants, such as Miss Latina PR., My Peru NJ, Miss Eros PR, Miss Aquamares PR, Miss Hoboken NJ and on one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in Puerto Rico, Miss Universe Puerto Rico. Rita García currently has 6 sovereigns who have conquered their crown in local and international competitions.

Rita also worked as a choreographer and catwalk teacher for beauty pageant, Belleza Latina PR in 2010, creating opening choreography, presentation and catwalk for the runway.

Photography couldn’t be absent, Rita is a visionary, she had worked and directed different photoshoots with the Magazine Imágen of Puerto Rico in collaboration with Lu by Blu. She worked with designer Cenia NYC in New York City having the most amazing experience entering in the field of retail and fashion.

Rita has also worked and collaborated with actor, singer and song writer Brian Falduto. (Brian was cast alongside black jack by casting director filled Starger and Golden Globe winning director Richard Linklater in the Scott Rudin / Paramount Pictures film School of Rock as Billy, a.k.a. “Faith Pants”).

Fashion week PR couldn’t be missed, Rita has execute her talent with different designers for their collection in the fashion week Puerto Rico. Working backstage, Rita always let feel her presence on the catwalks with her hair styles and make-up art.

Something that always called her attention is to work with celebrities, which she had the privilege of working twice for Puerto Rican Record Label: Pina Records founded by Rafael Antonio Pina Nieves. It is the most famous and successful record label in the reggaeton music industry, due to its long background history and artists. She worked for a concerts that took place at the biggest indoor arena at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico. She worked back staged doing Hair and makeup for urban artist from Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic like:

To add more celebrities to Rita’s list, she worked for Fox News and Fox Business Network in NYC as a freelancer doing hair and makeup to numerous of anchors, reporters, celebrities and more. She is very fascinated by her work and considers it her passion. She expreses that even thou people complemates her work, she always is amazed with the new things she learns and the work of the people that she gets to work with.

Rita, moving back and forth from Puerto Rico the east coast now she chose to live in the west coast Hollywood, Los Angeles CA.

She’s exploring new horizons in the beauty industry, working with actors, on music videos, and photoshoots. She shares that there’s huge opportunities in Hollywood, to be discovered. Her mission is to fulfill her goals and her dreams. At this moment she’s working and building different projects that’s she wants to keep in secret at the moment and to be able to surprise you later.

Since Rita’s childhood she used to act, she used to learn lines from movies and soap operas and used to play acting. Her mother used to put her to act and impersonate actors in the house when her friends used to come and visit.

Today Rita is in a facet where her career has taken another course and that has changed her life. We could say that Rita is a new person. Since everyone has always treated her as an artist and much urged her to be persuaded by the actress Rita Garcia’s cart she decided to take the opportunity and take acting classes and formed part of a casting agency to begin to enter the entertainment industry.

Rita Garcia has appeared in television productions you may have seen her as a background actress in “The Rookie Season 2” , “Seal Team” , “Part of Five” and on “United We Fall” to name just a few. Rita’s ability to transform her self into a character has been recognized by Casting Agencies booking her regularly. Rita continues acting classes with Peter Valentino (Director) perfecting her craft as a Actress and pursuing her new goals and dreams in her live. Rita Garcia lives in Los Angeles California following her heart with passion and willing to give it all for her dreams. She has great character, personalityits and presence that is hard to avoid.
